1927 Essex Rat Rod Up For Auction

You probably haven’t seen too many 1927 Essex’s before. This one is a 1927 and was made into a really neat rad rod. It is up for auction and could be yours if you are the winning bidder. This cool ride is Lot G49 and will be sold at the Mecum Indianapolis auction held May 14th through the 19th. This car will cross the block on Tuesday and is among some really cool cars including a 1957 Chevrolet belly tank racer and a 1938 Ford Rat Rod. Let’s check out some of the awesome details of this ride!

The interior is probably one of the coolest parts of this car. The front doors swing suicide-style and you can see some of what appears to be the original wood interior on the door pillar! You can’t tell from this angle, but the steering wheel is super unique. You can check out a closer photo here.

The engine is a 5.7 liter Chevrolet V8 with a matching Chevy transmission. The information on this car doesn’t really outline any specifics on the powerplant, but you can see the typical hop-up goodies of aluminum valve covers, headers, intake, and carb.

You can see the rear end features a gas tank made out of an old keg. The front bumper has the classic cam-shaft treatment. If you want to see more photos of the car, you can check it out here on Hemmings.com. This seems like a pretty fun car that would probably make a great family cruiser. What do you think?
