This great 1958 GMC pickup is up for auction at the Mecum event later this month in Louisville, Kentucky. It is going to be sold on Friday, September 20th and is lot F118. It can be found here on Mecum.com and looks like a blast! While the patina paint is really great, what lies under the hood is the real surprise. A quick look at those modern tires and wheels should be a clue that this is no ordinary rat rod.
Pop the hood and you have a modern fuel-injected V8 in the form of a Chevrolet LS with 5.3 liters of displacement. Backed by a 4L60E automatic transmission, this truck is ready for whatever the new owner will throw at it. These engines not only provide reliable power, but they can also be driven to any Chevrolet dealership and diagnosed with a quick plug into a code scanner.
The interior is a mix of vintage and modern. The gauges are modern Dolphin units with an aluminum surround and a Lokar shifter. The saddle-style seat and door panels are a very classy touch. The truck also features power steering and power brakes along with a Camaro front clip.
This truck is really cool and should be a great driver for the new owner. It is the kind of tuck you can hop in and go! You don’t need to worry about keeping it washed and polished and you can park it anywhere. What do you think of this cool truck?
